Nourishing Baby and Yourself - FREE CLASS

Preparing for your breastfeeding journey begins before your baby arrives. In this conversational class, you'll have the invaluable opportunity to meet with a lactation consultant prenatally to address all of your feeding questions and concerns. We believe that confidence, coupled with realistic expectations, paves the way for the most successful feeding outcomes.

We'll delve into tips for a great start, exploring the significance of the golden hour, the natural breast crawl, and your baby's innate feeding reflexes. Understanding newborn behavior and feeding communication is key, so we'll discuss responsive feeding and how to recognize your baby's hunger and fullness cues, and plenty more!

Newborn Essentials: Prepare for Parenthood Beyond Birth

This class equips you with essential skills for the postpartum period, covering everything from newborn basics (bathing, diapering, sleep) and babywearing to laying the groundwork for successful co-parenting. Set realistic expectations and gain the knowledge to confidently care for your newborn and navigate early parenthood.

We'll cover essential reminders for newborn feeding and strategies for successful breastfeeding, refresh your understanding of newborn behavior, and explore realistic expectations for this special time. For the parents, we'll discuss a "postpartum re-do" to implement new ideas, guidance on preparing for parenting one more, and practical tips for sibling preparation – including prenatal conversations, postpartum responses, managing expectations for older children, and fostering connection.

Breastfeeding, Postpartum and Early Parenting

Katie DaMota, MAS, Lactation Consultant

The founder of The Nest and our newborn and feeding instructor, Katie has built a reputation by consulting with families and working hard to solve the challenges that arise with the complexity of infant feeding, sleep concerns, and early parenting. She holds a master's degree in Maternal and Child Nutrition and Lactation from the University of California, Davis as well as held an international certification in lactation consulting (IBCLC) for 15 years. Her extensive background in the fields of child development and women's health has allowed her to make a career of her passion for guiding parents to make healthy decisions for themselves and their children.
