BIRTH AND POSTPARTUM DOULAS
CD(DONA), CPpD, CLEC, Evidence Based Birth® Instructor, Doula Mentor
By providing services as a certified birth doula, certified postpartum doula, and certified lactation educator counselor, and through teaching childbirth classes as an Evidence Based Birth® Instructor, I am able to offer comprehensive, compassionate support to all birthing families. Pregnancy and childbirth are normal, natural processes, and I trust the intuitive wisdom and strength of the birthing person. There is not one way to birth, and I believe each family does best when they are informed and supported as they navigate pregnancy, childbirth, and early parenthood.
I have experienced first-hand the transformative power of birth. Today, I am Mom to a happy, curious five-year-old who is a constant reminder of the beautiful simplicity in this world. My teammate-for-life, my husband David, is the steady calm upon which our family floats. In addition to fostering community and connection with expecting families and fellow birth professionals, I enjoy spontaneous outdoor adventures, connecting with nature, cooking, spending time with my family and friends, movement meditation, and crafting and using natural remedies to maintain optimal health. Wellness starts from within, and I prioritize taking care of myself so that I can be fully present and available for my family and the families I serve.
As a birth doula I have been honored with opportunities to support families welcoming their first baby through their fifth, and beyond! I support families of all structures and identities seeking the following pregnancy and birth experiences: hospital, birth center, home, unmedicated, epidural, cesarean, VBAC, multiples, IVF, IUI, teen parents, advanced maternal age, low- risk, high-risk, and more.
It would be a privilege and an honor to walk beside your family as you welcome your littlest addition.

Hi! I’m Lara Elfstrand. I am ALIVE: authentic, a learner, intuitive, vibrant, and empathetic. And I love to savor the preciousness of life, of the present moment, and the joy of spending time serving parents and their children. What makes my heart sing is to watch parents and children as they grow in love, respect, and empathy for each other. I feel most alive when I can create an environment where parents and children feel safe to learn (through play whenever possible and appropriate!)
I am a postpartum doula and a "new parent sanity specialist." Rather than feeling overwhelmed and depleted, I help new parents to get their needs met so that they emerge through the transition to parenthood stronger and more whole, and they fall in love with parenting… together.
In my classes and coaching, I offer a structured but flexible time to help transform your life as a parent to go from frazzled and overwhelmed to calm and confident. I am a guide who knows what it’s like to be an overwhelmed new parent and has over 15 years of experience working with hundreds of families with customized tools for sleep, behavior, and coparenting. So you can reduce confrontation and struggle and enjoy your family.
I offer virtual and in-person postpartum doula services, classes, and coaching that take care of new parents. I help new parents to:
- Get more sleep
- Reduce the chance of perinatal mood and anxiety disorders
- Recover from labor and bond with the new baby
- Soothe and connect with the new baby, and figure out what they need
- Support their relationship through the sleep deprivation, identity changes, and added work of early parenting, and to both feel equally competent as parents working together as a united team
I serve the greater Auburn, Rocklin, Roseville and east Sacramento areas in person, and elsewhere virtually. I’m a lifelong learner with lots of degrees and certifications, which you can find at http://www.little-elf.org/about.

Birth Doula, Womb and Menstrual Cycle Care
Hello beautiful mamas, mamas-to-be and families! I am a certified birth doula, and also offer in-home and short-term live-in postpartum care. I fell in love with, and became immersed in womb health, menstrual cycle care and somatic healing studies a few years ago, initiated by my own experience of reconnecting with my womb. I began teaching and mentoring women on womb wisdom and wellness, and cyclical living, and it led me into the calling of birth work. So I offer clients a wide range of services, offerings and personal touches including: nutritional guidance throughout pregnancy; cycle and fertility tracking to help with conception and/or contraception; somatic, emotional and energetic therapy tools; menstrual cycle care; womb massage; yoni steaming and more. As a doula, I offer compassionate, empowering, and attuned care through the emotional, physical & spiritual changes of pregnancy & birth. I support you to make the best decisions for YOU, lean into the transformative experience of becoming a mother, and to feel held so you can surrender with faith into the profound portal of birth. I'm here for you, it's my high joy and honor to be of service.

Birth and Postpartum Doula
After becoming a mother in 2017, a deep passion to be part of improving birth outcomes and experiences was ignited. Bringing a child into the world is a rite of passage that can benefit from community support. Whether families want to labor in nature, a hospital or anything in between, I am a space holder for their vision and goals. I encourage parents to advocate for themselves and build confidence in their own intuition and strength. Navigating the options throughout the perinatal season can be overwhelming. I share my knowledge and resources, which include a foundation of human rights, informed consent, mindfulness techniques, intuitive, guided labor positions, and vocalizations, as well as incorporating partner involvement.
I am currently working on my DONA certification and am a Lactation Education Counselor. I have taken workshops through Evidence Based Birth, Birth Monopoly, Spinning Babies and Naoli Vinaver. I am part of a mentorship and doula circle where we inspire each other and learn new ways to best assist our clients. I create belly castings and enjoy integrating ritual, ceremony, music, and herbal remedies into my offerings. I also channel insight and guidance through oracle and tarot readings. My favorite sources of wisdom are animal, Native American and Zen teachings.
I would love to meet you and see if I would be a good fit to support your family through the adventures of pregnancy, birth and breastfeeding.
