As a new parent sanity specialist, I often hear things like: “I find myself second guessing my parenting choices. I deal with behavior differently in different situations and I worry that I am not being consistent enough. My child has big emotions, and I am worried about how I am reacting to them. What am I teaching him now that will affect what he will become? I fear being judged as a mom. I would love to hear what it’s like for other parents, to feel that empathetic connection.” So here’s what we are going to do: We are going to take a few hours over 3 weeks and learn some strategies that will help us to: - Reduce stress by feeling heard and seen by another parent - Feel that empathetic connection with other parents - Practice flexing our empathy muscles with other parents, and then… - Apply these empathy skills to reduce stress and increase resilience throughout our homes - with our partners, and in simpler, age-appropriate ways with our children September 29, October 6 and 13 from 6-7:30 PM on Zoom. If you are able, I suggest you get a babysitter or other support so that you can focus on what you are learning and be present for the other parents in the group. If you and your partner are both able to attend, I suggest that you block off time from 7:30-8:00 so that you can practice the same skills with your partner.
We know life happens and changes need to be made. For the support of our staff, we ask that you make them at least 24 hours before class.
